Nowadays the beauty market is overwhelmed with multiple brands and their promises to make you look better, fresher and younger. But are they really living up to their promises or is it all a marketing strategy? Let’s be honest, at least once you've fallen for the shiny and charming advertisements of glossy magazines or the social media of your favourite influencer. You bought that desired piece and hoped it would miraculously make your skin glow porelessly, eliminate wrinkles, and make your eye lashes more voluminous. And how many times were you disappointed with none of the above happening?
Read on for Maryia's top tips on how to spend wisely on worthwhile investments on the most important elements of good skincare.
- Great skin doesn't need as much make-up! Follow a regular m0rning routine of double-cleansing, toning, moisturizing, and applying SPF and you will need to use fewer make-up products.
- One of my few make-up essentials is Erborian's BB Cream in Nude, which will cover imperfections but won’t be visible on your skin. However, as with other foundations, you don’t need to apply it on your full face, just on those few spots and dots that needed to be covered and strategically perfected, helping you to use less of it.
- Sometimes, the only other product you need is mascara. I can't even remember when I began using the L’Oréal Paris Million Lashes mascara, but having tried them all, this is the best!
- Implement an evening skincare routine. Nightly care is the greatest guarantee of youth and beauty when your skin restores itself best. Apply the same two-stage cleaning routine and toner before sleep, followed by a deep restoring night mask or serum and cream.
- Exfoliation - again, less is more. Only use a gentle scrub that won't damage your skin once or twice a week after cleansing your skin. Clinique Exfoliating scrub Gommage Tonique is wonderful and after applying and gently massaging it, if you leave it for 5 minutes it can serve you as a facial mask as well!
- Try before you buy! Most brands have small testers of each product at their designated shop so don't be afraid to ask for a tester sized product. This will save you money and avoid disappointment if it doesn't suit you.
- To get the best out of your routine and products: whatever you do to your face, make sure you are cleaning your hands before you touch your face.
- Don't disregard expiration dates – they are there for a reason.
- And finally, remember, beauty begins with self-love so always spare enough time for your beauty and health.
